Quick Party Drink, Sherbet Punch...
By Celiegirl
Sherbet, not ice cream
Sherbet is not like the creamy ice cream but it is a good alternative when you want something a little more fruity. It contains milk but it is mostly made up of fruit juices, where as ice cream is made up of mostly milk, cream and eggs.
The difference in the end product is very noticeable, and the way they interact with other liquids shows up when making any type of punches or cocktails.
Sherbet is not a healthy alternative to ice cream so if you are trying to lose weight Sherbet just like ice cream should be eaten in small amounts but thoroughly enjoyed and oh, so satisfying.
The Sherbet recipe starts with pureed fruits, sugar and water, then finished with the addition of milk (1 to 2 percent of milk fat or cream), gelatin or egg whites
Eating Sherbet by itself is great but i enjoy it best mixed with ginger ale soda/ pop and pineapple juice, and stirred. To me this is the best way.
The Sherbet punch is a wonderful addition to any party or just an everyday treat, it all depends on what you want to enjoy - ice cream sundaes verses sherbet punches... Worth a try! Especially if you are lactose intolerant or you have people with milk or dairy allergies.
